What to look out for in 2011
1. Michelle Lowe-Holder is a jewellery designer who caught my eye at Estethica at last September’s Fashion Week. The pieces are highly structured, upcycled and edgy.
2. I was pretty blown away by William Tempest’s show last February, and while this designer isn’t an eco-fashionista, I adored his theatrical display, concept and of course the couture.
3. Joanna Cave, another jewellery designer I have my eye on. The pieces are intricately cut, feminine and warm.
4. Lost Property of London. Upcycled coffee bags by this London duo. Already signed up to Liberty’s. Watch out for them.
5. Partimi. Beautiful deep blue silk dresses inspired by the Ballets Russes. I know the whole early 90s indie girl look is creeping up on us,so I’d bag one of these frocks and pair them with a vintage pair of 16-hole doc martens. One for the bad-ass ballerina girls.
6. Tammam. Ethical bridal couture. I’m also a big fan of her suits. Looking forward to more.
7. Christopher Raeburn. Upcycled macs.
8. Chunky knit cables and brogues.
9. Your granny’s fur coat. Really, second hand fur is OK in my book. Wearing it is better than having it end up in a landfill.
10 I’m thinking the drainpipe look on men has got to end now. Looking forward to seeing an alternative to the Pete Dougherty look. I’m edging toward waistcoats and tweed.
